Scotland 'Dahlwinnie 7 / Kingussie 4' - Day 6 of 7 - Sunday, April 7

October 2024 - 11th Scottish Adventure
Standard 7 days (click here for explanation)

The Longest Day!

Every adventure has a longest day
In my case it is almost always the last full,
and so 6th of 7th, day.

Normally I only have selfies because, after all, I hike everything solo.
This day I saw a family standing on the top of the first Munro and realized what a beautiful picture this was. Especially for the family itself, of course.

They were celebrating the summit in a close hug when I called them and took some pictures.
Then they offered to take some pictures of me but I am a very modest person. Of course I also have my pride but especially for the loyal readers I agreed.

Therefore the above photo below,
in all modesty, posted once again but
full width!

3 Munro’s this day:

Sgor Gaoith – Monadh Mor – Beinn Bhrotain

Again, these Munro’s planned based on information from fellow Munro-Baggers on WalkHighlands.

Below are the links to the day’s Munros:

The last Munro of this adventure in the late afternoon of this beautiful day.

Details
this day

1. Reading glasses

I have a simple list that I go through about 10 times before I go out. In the case of my phone, which is always off when I’m on the road, there is a small Noozy reading glasses by default. On the train, I found out that this was not the case, hence the odd dash to the right on the first day 😉. Sunday afternoon, looking for reading glasses in Newtonmore with the benefit of listening to NOS Sport!

(rest of the week, lovely!, no connection and the phone off)

2. New habits

Being in Glasgow feels like coming home.

The hotel, the route to the train station, the outdoor shop where I buy my last things before going on an adventure. In Inverness I had to find my way again which of course only makes an adventure more fun. Hotel is even closer to the train station and on the way there several outdoor stores!

3. Train ride

From / to Glasgow is also now standard by train, sometimes by bus. This was another new experience with new, and familiar, stops which also made it more fun.
