Map

Besides the route on my Garmin GPS with my Garmin Watch as back up and also a phone where I have, locally, saved my route in Komoot I always have a map with me.

I look on that regularly because it provides a much better overview (incl. details not on my GPS).

In the evening, but also in the morning at breakfast, I go through the route (both walked and ‘still to do’) extensively in the tent. It happens frequently that I adjust the route “along the way” based on map study. Of course nowadays you can see everything already at home on the computer but practice regularly leads to new insights.

There are several producers with my preference being Harvey. The cards are sturdy, weatherproof, detailed but the biggest advantage is that the cards are “thin” and therefore easy to fold.

A very convenient option is

this page

where you can look up a map for a specific Munro.
